About the Artist

Lynne Vegter Biography Lynne is a self taught artist living in the Bancroft area, and working from her cabin studio on Lake Weslemkoon. Lynne had immigrated from England and raised two children as a single parent, and ran a small art studio in Bruce County teaching Ceramic Arts, hand building and ceramic finishing. Drawing was always a passion and as a teen, Lynne won local art competitions. Following a career spanning twenty seven years in Mechanical Engineering, she attended Haliburton School of Art to study ceramic arts. Lynne finally had time to indulge her true inspiration to be able to express ideas and learn to create in different mediums. Moving to the Bancroft area in 2018, Lynne is emerging as an artist and enjoys photographing the lake environment and its wildlife. Hiking, kayaking and observing the raw beauty are her inspiration, exploring the lake reflections and the natural life around the shores. Both Lynne and her spouse are involved in animal rescue and protection of their habitat. Volunteering at both A Place For The Arts and the Bancroft Art Gallery, Lynne is presently enjoying teaching and exploring the art of reflections and the breadth of effects that can be achieved through layers of glazing. Her preferred medium is oils but also enjoys painting in watercolour, gouache and mixed media. Lynne's paintings can be seen in the Art Gallery of Bancroft, A place For The Arts and Longmuir's Hidden Cove Cottages. Shows include Belleville Gallery 121 mid-February to March 2024, and a solo exhibition at the Art Gallery Of Bancroft for the month of May 2024. Lynne has won two First Place in Juried shows and recently Best In Show in AGB Juried show 2023 as well as First Place and People's Choice Award this year in Bancroft's 2024 Juried Exhibition. Her work has been exhibited as part of the 2022 and 2023 Society Of Canadian Artists International Juried Exhibitions and the SCA Spring 2024 Online Exhibition.
